Worked on the bettercodepaul/swt2-bsa-backend repository to enhance the SyncService by overhauling its permissions handling. The update removed NoPermissionException from method signatures, replacing it with robust in-method permission checks and clearer, user-facing error messages for synchronization operations. This refactoring, implemented in Java with a focus on backend development and error handling, streamlined error paths and eliminated redundant exception throws. The changes improved operational reliability by making permission issues easier to diagnose and understand, while also supporting future enhancements to the permission model. Unit testing ensured the new logic maintained system stability and contributed to easier long-term maintenance.
