During October 2025, Paolo integrated BH1750 light sensor support into the meshtastic/firmware repository, expanding the platform’s environmental telemetry capabilities. He developed a dedicated BH1750Sensor class in C++ and enhanced I2C device detection to automatically recognize BH1750 sensors, enabling seamless sensor integration for embedded systems. Paolo extended the telemetry system to include light measurements, updated protobuf definitions to register the new sensor type, and managed dependencies to support the BH1750_WE library. His work focused on clean code practices and maintainability, laying a solid foundation for future sensor integrations and improving the overall data richness available to users and developers.
