Worked on the kubernetes/autoscaler repository to standardize pod resource calculations within the Cluster Autoscaler, focusing on improving code consistency and maintainability. Refactored the resource request logic to leverage the k8s.io/component-helpers/resource package, centralizing how pod resource requirements are determined across autoscaler components. This approach reduced duplication and streamlined future enhancements, making it easier for new contributors to onboard. The work was implemented using Go and required a strong understanding of Kubernetes internals and system design principles. By consolidating resource calculation logic, the changes laid a foundation for more reliable scaling behavior in cloud-native environments using Kubernetes.
