Ruixuan Tan enhanced the sodadata/soda-core repository by implementing AWS session token support for the Athena data source. This work introduced a token-based authentication path, allowing users to connect to Athena using temporary credentials rather than long-term keys. By integrating AWS authentication mechanisms and focusing on security best practices, Ruixuan reduced credential exposure and improved the onboarding experience for AWS users. The solution was developed in Python and demonstrated skills in cloud computing and data engineering. While the scope was focused—a single feature over one month—the work laid a foundation for extending secure, token-based authentication to additional AWS data sources.
