Worked on the grafana/grafana repository to improve the stability and usability of the Log Details Trace Preview feature, specifically addressing failures related to TraceQL trace-id lookups. The solution involved extracting the trace ID from TraceQL queries before sending them to Tempo, ensuring accurate retrieval and display of trace spans in the Log Details panel. This debugging effort, implemented using JavaScript and TypeScript, enhanced the end-to-end tracing experience across Grafana, Tempo, and Loki. By focusing on frontend development and thorough testing, the work reduced user friction in trace-based log exploration and strengthened observability workflows for developers and operators.
