Worked on the apache/cassandra-sidecar repository to deliver an observability enhancement by implementing a Cassandra Gossip Status Monitoring Endpoint. This feature introduced a dedicated API route and handler that exposes the gossip health status as either OK or NOT_OK, supporting improved system monitoring and proactive issue detection. The development process involved updating API contracts to ensure backward compatibility, aligning storage operations with the new data flow, and expanding automated test coverage to address endpoint behavior and edge cases. The work was accomplished using Groovy and Java, leveraging skills in API development, backend development, and system monitoring to strengthen operational readiness.
