Developed a system reboot requirement check command for the uyuni-project/uyuni repository, enabling administrators to determine if a system needs a reboot after applying patches. This feature was implemented as a new extension to the Spacecmd command line interface, leveraging Python scripting and system administration expertise. The approach focused on surfacing reboot requirements prior to patch deployment, supporting proactive maintenance planning and reducing the risk of unplanned downtime. By integrating this capability, the work established a foundation for automated patch governance workflows and improved traceability through Git commit history, demonstrating a methodical approach to CLI development and operational reliability.
