Worked on core firmware maintenance within the Shopify/nixpkgs repository, focusing on updating the linux-firmware package to the 20250613 release. The process involved managing package dependencies and verifying the integrity of the new firmware tarball by updating and validating the SHA256 hash. Leveraging skills in package management and the Nix language, the update was integrated with continuous integration checks to ensure successful builds and prevent regressions. This work supported ongoing hardware compatibility and security maintenance goals, reinforcing device reliability and long-term maintainability. The contribution addressed the need for up-to-date firmware in Linux environments without introducing new bugs.
