Worked on enhancing performance, reliability, and observability in the sonic-net/sonic-swss and sonic-net/sonic-buildimage repositories by introducing asynchronous recording for swss.rec tasks and adding a user-configurable recorder knob. Leveraged C++ and multithreading to move serialization and file I/O to a dedicated background worker, reducing route-programming overhead while preserving data formats and semantics. Improved diagnostics with fatal-signal metrics and graceful shutdown handling. In sonic-net/sonic-sairedis, implemented selective SAI bulk mode enablement for Broadcom XGS, using configuration scripts and ASIC subtype gating to optimize bulk performance and maintain compatibility across platforms, validated through automated DUT checks.
June 2026 — sonic-sairedis: Implemented selective SAI bulk mode enablement for Broadcom XGS with DNX compatibility gating. Gated via asic_subtype to enable syncd -l on XGS while skipping DNX, and simplified the gating logic for maintainability. Validated with rebuilt images and DUT checks: XGS starts syncd with -l; DNX starts without -l. Business impact: better bulk-performance on supported platforms and reduced risk from unsafe paths on DNX; lays groundwork for future cross-BCM platform optimizations. Technologies demonstrated: C/C++, config scripts, ASIC subtype gating, cross-platform validation, DUT automation.
