Contributed to the MegaMek/megamek repository by developing and refining backend systems that enhance rule validation, data consistency, and gameplay realism for combat simulations. Focused on Java-based game logic, this work included implementing new unit definitions, enforcing tech-level requirements, and standardizing equipment handling such as HarJel and disposable weapons. Addressed bugs related to fire control system placement and ammunition validation, ensuring accurate legality checks and preventing misconfiguration. Applied defensive programming, encapsulation, and unit testing with JUnit to improve code stability and maintainability. Refactored legacy logic and updated UI components for consistent display, supporting both feature expansion and robust error handling.
July 2026: Focused delivery across MegaMek/megamek to improve validation accuracy, rule compliance, and data consistency, with new unit support and targeted refactors. Key outcomes include reduced false positives in unit legality checks, standardized HarJel handling and Clan exoskeleton opt-out, new Aerie PA(L) battle armor support with tests, enforcement of tech-level requirements for disposable weapons, and turret validation aligned with TO Advanced Rules. These efforts improve gameplay realism, build stability, and maintainability, while expanding supported configurations and ensuring predictable behavior in combat simulations.
