In March 2025, Zaj developed battery control functionality for LG ESS devices within the evcc-io/evcc repository, enabling users to configure battery modes such as normal, hold, and charge, along with setting minimum and maximum state-of-charge limits. Zaj integrated this feature with existing meter and decorator patterns, allowing for seamless device management and laying the foundation for state-of-charge-driven optimization in EV charging and storage. The work involved API integration, configuration management, and device control, utilizing Go and YAML. Although focused on a single feature, the implementation demonstrated depth in embedded systems and expanded the platform’s support for advanced energy automation.
