Worked on automating the update process for the steel package in the Shopify/nixpkgs repository, focusing on reducing manual maintenance and improving workflow efficiency. Leveraged Nix and scripting skills to implement nix-update-script, which streamlined version bumps and ensured updates aligned with the latest unstable releases. Addressed update script logic to enhance reliability and maintain changelog consistency, supporting reproducibility across the build system. The automation delivered faster integration of fixes and features, minimizing manual intervention. This work demonstrated a strong understanding of package management and build systems, resulting in a more maintainable and efficient update process for the steel package.
