Worked on the openhab/openhabian repository to deliver a comprehensive refactor of the ESPHome Device Builder, focusing on improving installation and management workflows. The project involved renaming the ESPHome dashboard, updating menu options and function names for clarity, and establishing a dedicated directory structure. Leveraging skills in devops, Linux, and scripting with bash and shell, the developer set up a Python virtual environment and a systemd service to manage the device builder reliably. This overhaul introduced a robust workflow for installation, updates, and removal, and included a targeted fix to the ESPHome install script to enhance maintainability and reliability.
