Alexis Vapaille focused on backend development for the umap-project/umap repository, delivering an update to the user authentication system by aligning OAuth backends with the latest social-auth-core versions. Using Django and Python, Alexis addressed deprecation issues by updating BitbucketOAuth and OpenStreetMapOAuth configurations, ensuring forward compatibility and reducing the risk of login disruptions. This work enhanced authentication reliability and improved the user login experience, while also simplifying future dependency upgrades. Although the contribution was limited to a single feature over one month, the update provided a robust foundation for ongoing maintenance and reduced potential support overhead related to authentication issues.
