Worked on the umap-project/umap repository to deliver a Polish localization update, focusing on improving accessibility and usability for Polish-speaking users. Updated django.po translation files to cover map accessibility, ownership, status, and general application text, ensuring a more inclusive user experience. Employed Python and Django’s localization workflow, utilizing gettext and translation management best practices. The work emphasized internationalization by aligning core UI strings for Polish language coverage and documenting the localization process. No major bugs were addressed during this period, as the primary goal was to reduce localization gaps and lay the foundation for broader multilingual support in the project.
