In July 2025, Andbe developed protobuf-based circuit tag serialization for the quantumlib/Cirq repository, enabling metadata tagging to support calibration workflows and discounting semantics. Andbe designed and implemented changes to the Circuit proto schema, introducing fields for token and tag indices, and updated the CircuitSerializer to handle custom tags such as CalibrationTag and DiscountTag. This work, using Python and Protocol Buffers, ensured accurate round-tripping of tag data and improved interoperability across Cirq pipelines. The feature established a foundation for more automated and reliable calibration and pricing workflows, with careful attention to forward- and backward-compatibility in serialization and deserialization processes.

July 2025 performance summary for quantumlib/Cirq: Delivered protobuf-based circuit tag serialization to enable metadata tagging for calibration workflows and discounting semantics. Implemented proto schema changes and serializer support to ensure accurate round-tripping of CalibrationTag and DiscountTag. This work lays a foundation for improved automation and data fidelity in calibration and pricing workflows, with a focus on forward- and backward-compatibility.
