During the month, contributed to the gchq/CyberChef project by upgrading its Tesseract.js OCR engine from version 5.1.1 to 6.0.1, focusing on enhancing document recognition accuracy and processing performance. This work involved integrating the latest OCR capabilities into the existing JavaScript-based front end, ensuring compatibility and improved throughput for higher-volume document processing. The upgrade required careful dependency management, code review, and testing within the JavaScript and Node.js ecosystem. By delivering this feature, the developer improved the reliability and efficiency of OCR operations in CyberChef, supporting a better end-user experience without introducing new bugs or regressions.
