During March 2026, Darren Kingsnorth developed an Audio Metadata Extraction feature for the gchq/CyberChef repository, enabling the application to extract structured metadata from a wide range of audio formats. Darren used JavaScript and audio processing techniques to extend the media processing pipeline, allowing downstream analytics and data enrichment workflows to leverage detailed audio file information. The work focused on improving media file handling and supporting data governance needs. Darren co-authored the implementation, contributed to comprehensive documentation, and enhanced test coverage for the new operation. The project demonstrated depth in full stack development and attention to robust, maintainable code quality.
