Worked on the istio/istio repository to address a critical issue in cross-namespace waypoint configuration when trust-domain validation is skipped. Using Go and integration testing, implemented a fix that ensures configuration changes propagate correctly across namespaces, reducing the risk of misconfiguration in multi-namespace Kubernetes environments. The solution included comprehensive integration tests to validate behavior under skip-trust-domain scenarios and updated release notes to clarify the impact for operators. The patch was cherry-picked to the 1.26 release stream, aligning with customer upgrade cycles and improving reliability for Istio deployments that rely on advanced networking and traffic management features in microservices architectures.
