Shikhar contributed to the internetarchive/openlibrary repository by enhancing the Edition Editor to improve data integrity and editing precision. He implemented logic in Vue.js and JavaScript to enforce a single OCAID per edition, preventing duplicate identifiers and reducing the risk of data inconsistency. Shikhar also refined the editor’s input validation, lowering the minimum thresholds for weight and dimensions to 0.001, which allowed for more accurate cataloging of lightweight items. These changes, developed over one month, focused on front end development and HTML, resulting in more reliable edition records and supporting downstream discovery and lending workflows without introducing new bugs.
