Worked on the EQEmu/Server repository to enhance backend reliability and compatibility for game server infrastructure. Focused on improving the movement system by refining client movement deltas, position handling, and animation synchronization, which addressed issues with jumping and turning. Tackled build system stability by resolving a GCC linking problem through dependency reordering, ensuring smoother builds with CMake and C++. Introduced dynamic database selection for legacy world logins, allowing environment variable configuration to support diverse local setups. The work demonstrated depth in backend development, networking, and server administration, resulting in smoother gameplay, reduced build failures, and easier maintenance for legacy client support.
August 2025 (2025-08) – EQEmu/Server: Focused on reliability, performance, and compatibility. Delivered three targeted updates: movement system improvements, GCC build/linking stability, and dynamic legacy world login database selection. These changes enhance gameplay smoothness, reduce build-time failures, and improve legacy client support, enabling easier maintenance and faster issue resolution across the deployment pipeline.
