Worked on improving the reliability of Live TV streaming in the jellyfin-androidtv repository by addressing a critical instability in the Direct Play feature. The solution involved adjusting request timeout settings and ensuring that all necessary URL parameters were included in stream requests, directly targeting the root cause of playback interruptions. This fix, implemented using Kotlin and leveraging Android development best practices, enhanced the stability of media streaming on Android TV devices. The work demonstrated a strong focus on networking reliability and regression maintenance, resulting in reduced user-reported issues and support tickets, and contributing to a smoother experience for end users.
