Worked on enhancing the Jellyfin media server by improving its library scanning feature to better group alternate versions of movies. Addressed the challenge of accurately identifying different versions by updating the file parsing logic to recognize both underscore and dot characters as valid separators between base movie names and version suffixes. This backend development effort, implemented in C#, reduced the occurrence of mis-grouped files during scans, resulting in more accurate metadata and streamlined library maintenance for end users. Contributed to the jellyfin/jellyfin repository by preparing detailed commit messages and review notes, ensuring smooth integration of the feature into the release process.
