Worked on the DataDog/agent-payload repository to deliver enhanced zombie process telemetry, focusing on accurate metrics tracking and aggregation across agent versions. Extended the Process protobuf schema in Go to include zombieChildrenCount and zombieNetRate fields, enabling per-parent aggregation and more granular data processing. Introduced a hasZombieAggregation sentinel field to distinguish between true zero values and uncollected data, ensuring backward compatibility and minimizing wire impact. The approach followed RFC-driven design principles and maintained data integrity by removing ambiguity in zombie process reporting. Leveraged skills in API design, backend development, and protobuf to support reliable telemetry across mixed agent deployments.
