Chenghan Zou developed an AI-powered SQL query generation feature for the google/perfetto repository, focusing on enhancing the Query page for internal users. By integrating a dismissible banner and a dedicated button, Chenghan guided users to the Perfetto SQL agent, streamlining the process of generating accurate SQL queries. The implementation leveraged JavaScript and TypeScript for robust front end and UI development, with careful attention to feature flagging and user onboarding. This work improved discoverability and reduced time-to-first-query, while establishing a reusable UI integration pattern for future AI-assisted tooling. The feature demonstrated thoughtful engineering depth within a focused project scope.
