Imre Sumegi contributed to the hortonworks/cloudbreak-images repository by developing and hardening automation scripts for cloud infrastructure provisioning. Over three months, Imre enhanced the user-data-helper to improve resilience against network issues, implemented SELinux policy hardening for IPA Health and LDAP Agents, and removed legacy CCMv1 code to streamline migration to CCMv2. These efforts involved Bash and Python scripting, SELinux policy development, and system administration, resulting in more reliable deployments and reduced operational risk. Imre’s disciplined approach included rollback management and collaborative development, demonstrating depth in cross-cloud automation, security compliance, and maintainability within complex infrastructure management workflows.
March 2026 monthly summary for hortonworks/cloudbreak-images: Advancing CCMv2 readiness by hardening the user-data-helper against network issues during image provisioning and removing CCMv1 code to streamline toward CCMv2 functionality. This work reduces operational risk, improves reliability, and sets the stage for migration milestones. Note: no distinct major bug fixes were required this month; value was delivered through resilience improvements and code cleanup aligned with CCMv2 migration.

February 2026 (2026-02) – Cloudbreak Images: Focused on stabilizing the user-data handling and cross-cloud instance ID retrieval. Delivered an initial resilience enhancement to the user-data-helper by adding a retry mechanism to tolerate transient network issues across cloud providers, improving automation reliability for image provisioning and reducing manual troubleshooting. A subsequent rollback was performed to revert the network retry enhancement to the previous stable behavior, addressing compatibility concerns and ensuring predictable provisioning workflows. This cycle demonstrates disciplined change management, effective collaboration, and hands-on scripting across multi-cloud environments, delivering tangible business value through more reliable deployments and quicker remediation. Technologies demonstrated include cross-cloud scripting/automation, retry logic, and collaborative development (Co-authored-by isumegi).
